Art Inspiration:

"This illustration is inspired by the friendship that I imagine possible between these magical beings (Xolo & Axolotl) that exist to this day. Rare and misunderstood creatures who once in their remote childhood learned together to love life, to eat corn on the cob and ice cream before those great responsibilities that awaited them in their future, which is now a distant past."

"Xolotl was the twin brother of Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god. It is said that when the world was created for the fifth time, the gods, including these sacred twins, had to participate in the ritual to allow the new sun and moon to move. All of them agreed to the sacrifice except Xolotl, who loved life too much. When he saw no other alternative, he fled and used his godly powers to transform into corn and then into maguey (agave plant). However, he was eventually discovered in this form. As a last resort, it is said that he submerged himself in the waters of Xochimilco, in what is now Mexico City, and transformed into an Axolotl. In the end, he was also captured and forced to fulfill his duty. Personally, I believe that he was never found, and that the axolotl was such a loyal friend to Xolotl that it ended up covering for him and sacrificing itself."
